Alaqua Animal Refuge

Community Outreach

IMG_5211Here at Alaqua, we are forever grateful for all that our community does to help us continue to thrive and do what we do best. We have a lot to offer to our community beyond helping its members find their perfect pet. We are fortunate enough to have the resources to build programs that can bring so much to our community.

Alaqua Unleashed
Alaqua Unleashed is our very own dog park located in South Walton County and open to the public. It offers ample room for your buddy to run and play and also serves as the perfect spot for our agility and obedience training courses.

Unconditional Love
Alaqua’s Unconditional Love Program allows us to rescue unwanted canines from neglect or abuse situations and to partner them with inmates in order to train them to become companion canines. This program benefits both the animals and inmates, helping each learn special skills and regain their places in society.

Equine Interactions
Equine Interactions is a program that utilizes the unique traits and characteristics of our horses and partners them with children with certain developmental needs. It is designed to promote personal growth and development.

Spay / Neuter
Alaqua offers a variety of spay and neuter programs, and the reason for that is simple – spaying and neutering your pet is one of the most important responsibilities of being a pet owner. Our goal is to make this simple surgery more attainable by offering low cost spay and neuter programs.

Young Rescuers Club
Alaqua believes that interacting with animals is good for the soul and can even be therapeutic in many cases. The Young Rescuers Club is a program that promotes interaction and involvement of young volunteers here at the refuge. This program is mutually beneficial to the children and the animals at our facility.
