The majority of the dogs that take shelter at Alaqua Animal Refuge were once on a frightful euthanasia list at a crowded county shelter where their lives were spared but could have been taken away within as little as 24 hours.
Once they are saved and brought to us immediate vet care is provided. All dogs are given their annual shots, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, HW tested, and given prevention. For those dogs that are ill or test positive for diseases, such as heartworms, they are kept in a medical safe haven and treated until their condition is healed and they are able to make their way out into our available houses.
With a one time or monthly recurring donation of $100 you can help us get more dogs to safety and gain a second chance at life.
We could not do this important work without the support of our gracious donors and community. Thank you!
